Admission to University



Most universities determine admission based on several criteria. They base admission on a students GPA, extracurricular activities, personal essay or their SAT and ACT exam scores. Students regularly take the SAT and ACT exam during their junior or senior year of high school. The SAT exam tests a students critical reading, mathematics, and writing skills. The ACT exam tests a students English, mathematics, reading, and science reasoning skills, and includes an optional writing test. Each university sets a minimum SAT or ACT an applicant must reach in order to gain admission.

    2. I believe that SAT/ACT scores is effective in determining admission because it is the most standardized method to select the potential students by estimating their fundamental knowledge. Although, I also think that these tests will not reflect the entire ability of the individual; therefore, the admission is most fair is to look the overall of the students experience by side the scores.

  2. The SAT and ACT focus solely on meeting standardized requirements, which may or may not have been taught in certain public schools. Being in a rather progressive technological era, high schools are continuously altering their values as an educational institution. Some high schools are focusing more so on passion, rather than core requirements. These students would be at a disadvantage, for they were not properly prepared to partake in standardized, facilitated testing environments. Basing admission on SAT/ACT scores in ineffective, as they do not define the quality of the student.
